Legal Question About Fictionalizing a true Crime

I am interested in writing a fictional story surrounding a true crime, and I was wondering if there are any limitations concerning towns, real businesses, etc. For example, this crime happened in Louisiana, but I want to set my own story in a town I know well in north Tx. Can I name the actual tx town, or must I make one up? The club the girl disappears from could either be an existing club, or a name I create. These are minor setbacks, I just need a little guidance before I put it in stone. Thanks!
